Trine Bakke of Norway broke local hearts by winning the Café de Colombia World Cup Slalom in Maribor, Slovenia on January 6.

  • The 24-year-old recorded her second victory on the circuit, finishing ahead of local favourite Spela Pretnar.

  • Bakke took a 0.42s lead into the second run, and held her nerve to finish in a time of one minute 41.9s, 0.87s ahead of Pretnar.

  • Sabine Egger of Austria, the reigning World Cup Slalom champion, was unable to follow up her win in Lienz, Austria on December 29, and had to settle for third on the Raduanje piste, a further 0.22s behind Bakke.

  • Sonja Nef of Switzerland produced the fastest time on the second run, moving from 23rd place to tenth and equalling her best finish in the slalom in the 1999-2000 season.

  • Bakke now leads the overall slalom standings by 39 points from Christel Saioni of France, who finished fifth at Maribor. Egger is a further nine points adrift of Bakke in third.
